To the Revd the Minister of Buckland Brewer & it's Chapells
Chanter 232A, 105
Residence, curate and lecturer: The Vicar of Buckland Brewer is ye Revd: Mr. Paxton. He at present lives at Richmond - ye reason of his leaving his Parish after a residence of 20 years was I believe his ill state of health & change of Air being recommended. The Curate is Hooper Morrison he does not reside in ye parish but his house is very little more than a mile from ye Church ye field before his house connects with ye parish of Buckland - his Salary £40 per annum & Surplice fees.
Other benefices: Mr. Paxton is likewise Rector of Petrocstow-about 12 Miles distant from Buckland.
Frequency of divine service: Twice every Sunday - with a Sermon on both parts of ye day. Month Sundays excepted, when there is no Service at ye Mother Church. There is likewise Service on Saints days, State Holidays, in Lent &c.
Church fabric: Every thing is in good repair & very decent.
Glebe terrier: The Church Coffer has been search'd & none as yet found - it is imagin'd Mr. Paxton has it in his custody - if he has not application will be made to ye Register's office & one will be precur'd before ye visitation.
Charity: The possessor of ye Great Tithes pays out of them 30 pounds per Annum or some such sum yearly to ye Church of Exeter.
Priest's orders and institution: I imagine Mr Paxton intends to be present at ye visitation - if he cannot - I have desir'd all his papers to be remitted to me & every day expect them.
